About Lou Manfredini

Lou’s interest in home improvement started way back in high school while working at a neighborhood hardware store. It was there that Lou learned the nuts and bolts of hardware products and developed excellent customer service.

Lou worked his way through college, remodeling homes and learning craftsmanship hands-on from plumbing to dry wall to roofing.

Lou’s a busy guy. Since 1995, he’s been host of the wildly popular “Mr. Fix-It” radio program heard Saturday mornings on WGN-AM Radio in Chicago. Each week, listeners call in with their renovation and repair questions.

Lou is also a regular contributor to NBC’s Today Show. His national television program, HouseSmarts, is seen in over 65 markets around the U.S. He appears regularly on NBC-TV’s Morning News in Chicago and his HouseSmarts columns in USA WEEKEND have been read by millions. He’s authored a series of home improvement books published by Ballantine Books.

In his spare time, Lou runs a real estate management company and owns a hardware store in Chicago. Lou lives in Chicago with his wife Mary Beth and their four children.
